A reliable email service is a core requirement for most individual and businesses. At OceanWeb, we have been running our bespoke email systems - customised for maritime satellite connections & the offshore environment - for nearly 10 years .
The volume of unsolicited emails - SPAM - has increased dramatically over the last few years and have a significant cost implication when doenloaded over a satellite connection.
OceanWeb have recently implemented a new email security tool used to identify spam and virus emails. Built on top of the .NET 2.0 platform and designed to work with open source software such as SpamAssassin and ClamAV, this new software provides an advanced & effective way to eliminate viruses and spam. It utilizes a combination of AntiSpam checks in a weighted score system in order to classify emails into different levels of spam.
After trialing the software for several weeks, we decided to lauch this across all our email platforms so providing our clients with a superior anti-SPAM service.
