CISCO network

OceanWeb completed a network IT system onboard a 52m MY. The existing network was only some 18 months old but was unreilable. OceanWeb were invited to plan and install a new networking and communications system. The requirements of the network infrastructure included managed 100Mbps connections to Wired Network points and a Wireless Network, which comprised of a Wireless LAN controller and 12 Wireless Access Points.  The wireless network provided 2 networks, one for crew use and one for guest access and the captain is able to change the passwords on either network at any time.

The new system was based around a Cisco 3560G-24TS - Layer 3 10/100/1000Mbps Switch with VLAN routing and AV device connection. A Wireless LAN controller (2112) was also installed along with 12 Wireless access points (10 internal Cisco 1130AG and 2 external 1230AG). The new network was connected to a LiveWire Access Controller FB-10 Pro which in turn was connected to the VSAT, off-Vessel WiFi, GSM / 3G FCT and a Fleet 55.

OceanWeb were also asked to provide their advanced email system and installed a compact Dell onboard with MDaemon as the onboard mail server. This was configured to send & recieve to our terrestrial mail servers.
